Sign up now for AID's Color Burst 5K 'Fun Run & Roll'

The Association for Individual Development will host the second annual Color Burst 5K "Fun Run & Roll" on Sunday, June 4.

The nonprofit organization empowers people with physical, developmental, intellectual and mental health challenges to enjoy lives of dignity and purpose in Kane and surrounding counties.

Runners, walkers and wheelchair riders will be blasted with colors in this fun-filled family event. All event proceeds benefit individuals participating in AID programs and services.

The 5K will start and end at the AID Aurora main campus, 309 New Indian Trail Court, Aurora. Same-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the race officially beginning at 9 a.m. It will be held rain or shine.

Cost for early registration is $30 before May 3 or $100 for a family of four. To pre-register for the 5K, participants can visit www.The-Association.org.

Before, during and after the race, participants will enjoy food, beverages and a live DJ.

Not a runner but still want to help AID raise much-needed funds? They are seeking volunteers to work registration; hospitality and water stations; traffic control; "color burst" the runners; sell raffle tickets and more.

More than 100 volunteers come together to help AID raise funds for programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness and those who have suffered a trauma and those at risk.

To volunteer or become a sponsor, call event coordinator Wendy Bialek at (847) 931-2294 or email wbialek@the-association.org.

AID has locations or offers services in the Aurora, Elgin, Batavia, McHenry, Yorkville and Sugar Grove areas.
