Police seek help in 10-year-old missing person case

Police again are asking for the public's help in finding a St. Charles man who has been missing under "suspicious" circumstances since 2007.

DuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba on Wednesday issued a news release asking for help solving the disappearance of John "Chicago Johnny" Spira, who was last seen at his business, Universal Cable Construction, in an unincorporated area near West Chicago on Feb. 23, 2007.

Spira was reported missing two days later. He was one of only two or three people alone at the business the last night he was seen, according to the news release.

His cellphone was active all evening on the 23rd, and his vehicle was found on the business property.

Spira, who was 45 when he was reported missing, is 5'9" inches tall, 165 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the DuPage County sheriff's office at (630) 407-2323. Additional information about Spira and his disappearance can be found at www.johnspira.com.
