Senior Safety Presentations March 7

The public is welcome to join the Committee on Aging from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, to participate in safety presentations that will be offered by the Schaumburg Police and Fire Departments. Information will be provided by Angela Walsh of the Fire Department who will be discussing fire and life safety topics important for today's older adults including slips, trips and falls, which represent a high percentage of EMS calls, as well as cooking safety, the number one cause of home fires. She will also review the importance of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms as well as explain the free Home Safety Visit Program that is available for senior residents of Schaumburg.

In addition, Paula Diaz of the Police Department will discuss home safety which includes ruse burglaries, solicitors and protecting your home. Other topics include current scams affecting area residents such as telephone soliciting, sweepstakes and charity scams.

The presentations will take place in Rasmussen South of the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road. For information and to RSVP, contact Marianne DiLillo at mdilillo@villageofschaumburg.com or dial 311 in Schaumburg or (847) 895-4500 outside of Schaumburg.
