Red Stars to host home opener April 22 at Toyota Park

Following a strong third-place finish in 2016, the Chicago Red Stars will open their 2017 National Women's Soccer League season on the road in April, team officials announced Tuesday.

The Red Stars will travel to Houston to play the Dash on April 15, then return for their home opener against NWSL rival Kansas City at Toyota Park on April 22.

Chicago is 3-0-1 in NWSL home openers, including a 1-0 win over Western New York Flash last year in the team's first full season at Toyota Park.

While the complete team schedule will be released at a later date, season tickets and flex packs are available at www.chicagoredstars.com or by calling 773-697-8699.

The Red Stars will open preseason play on March 16 against the University of Wisconsin, and then play three games in Oregon against the Portland Thorns (March 26), Houston Dash (March 29), and the U-23 National team (April 1) at Providence Park. The team will close its exhibition schedule at Notre Dame on April 6.
