Rolling Meadows pulls away against Hoffman Estates

Rolling Meadows 40, Hoffman Estates 26: Rolling Meadows' boys basketball team scored the first 8 points in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and earn a 40-26 victory over visiting Hoffman Estates in a Mid-Suburban League crossover matchup Tuesday.

Jack Schoessling scored 5 points and Gio Carrillo hit a 3 to push the Mustangs (14-13) to a 38-24 point lead on the way to a victory in their final home game of the season.

Schoessling and Jared Murphy each scored 12 points. Murphy added 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Liam Brigham added 9 points and pulled down 6 rebounds.

"We played good defense tonight," said Rolling Meadows coach Kevin Katovich. "We've won four in a row now and we're looking forward to the postseason."

Rudra Patel scored 8 points for the Hawks, who finished the regular season 8-18.

Schaumburg 64, Hersey 62: Heze Trotter (19 points) and Kameron Powell (18) led the way as the visiting Saxons (10-15) picked up an MSL crossover win.

Joe Coffaro led Hersey (15-11) with 19 points and Grant Wagner had 17.

Barrington 64, Wheeling 48: Senior center Jackson Perkins erupted for a career-high 33 points as the visiting Broncos won their MSL crossover.

Limited to 4 points in the first quarter, Perkins followed with scoring periods of 10, 9 and 10.

Junior center Jack Reinhard (12 points) also scored in double figures for Barrington (17-9).

Jalen Dennis led the way for Wheeling with 15 points, and T.J. Best contributed 13.

Palatine 57, Elk Grove 33: The visiting Pirates improved to 11-18 with a road victory in their MSL crossover game.
