Des Plaines program to uncover history of women's underwear

An upcoming Des Plaines History Center program will uncover history about an under-the-radar topic: women's underwear.

Ellie Carlson, a former curator of the center who's now a Chicago performer, will present her comedic lecture "Speaking of Unmentionables: The Rise and Fall of Ladies' Underwear" during the Coffee Talk program at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9.

Carlson, who was the history center curator 23 years ago, installed an exhibit on women's underwear at the Des Plaines History Center. She gave her first performance of Speaking of Unmentionables as a special program for that exhibit. She has traveled all over the country with it ever since.

The public program is at the history center, 781 Pearson St. in Des Plaines.
