Silver Cross receives Gold Medal accreditations for radiology

NEW LENOX - Silver Cross Hospital recently received three Gold Sear accreditations from the American College of Radiology, bringing the total number of gold seal accreditation fro the hospital to 10.

The ACR awarded Silver Cross three-year term accreditations for ultrasound imaging, nuclear medicine and Positron Emission Tomography/Computerized Tomography system (PET/CT).

The ACR Accreditation Program is focused on improving the quality and safety of care provided to patients. Silver Cross had already been ACR accredited in Mammography, Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, Breast Ultrasound, Breast Ultrasound Biopsy, MRI, Breast MRI and CT, so with the additional accreditations in Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT, the imaging departments are now fully accredited by the ACR.

"Receiving ACR gold seals of accreditation is a wonderful testimony to the commitment of the Silver Cross staff in ensuring that quality health care is provided to our patients," said Darius Keblinskas, M.D., Radiology Department Chairman at Silver Cross Hospital.

American College of Radiology Accreditation is recognized as the gold standard in medical imaging. The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
