Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley gets grant from Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley

Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley has received an $11,804 grant from The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley for an upgraded student evaluation system and lightweight computers. "We are very pleased to count The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley among our supporters," said Peg Coker, executive director. "By using this computer-based method of evaluating progress, we can more effectively support the volunteer tutors who are helping our adult students become better workers, engaged parents, and involved community members."

The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley is a nonprofit, tax-exempt, philanthropic organization that administers individual charitable funds from which grants and scholarships are distributed to benefit the citizens of the Greater Aurora Area, the Tri-Cities, and Kendall County, Illinois. Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley helps adults acquire the English literacy skills that they need to function more effectively in contemporary U.S. society. Through trained volunteers and organizational staff, it offers free, one-to-one tutoring focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and understanding in English.
