Christian Liberty tops regional host Walther Christian

Christian Liberty's season isn't over yet.

The Chargers' boys basketball team advanced to the Class 1A Walther Christian regional semifinals by beating the host school 70-66 on Monday.

Steve Ringstrand and Jimmy Cunningham both had 16 points, and Jesse Castro finished with 14 to lead the way for Christian Liberty.

The outcome puts sixth-seeded Christian Liberty into a 7 p.m. Wednesday matchup against No. 3 seed Chicago Douglass.

In the 7 p.m. Tuesday semifinal, Deerfield Rochelle Zell will meet Skokie Yeshiva

The semifinal winners meet at 7 p.m. Friday to decide which team will advance to the Chicago Hope Academy sectional semifinals next Tuesday.
