No snow or cold, but Winter Wonders still abound in Campton Hills

The remedy to the winter blahs included 70-degree weather and a trip out to the Winter Wonders in Campton Hills event Saturday.

Indoor and outdoor activities and games were available for all ages.

The Free Spirit Siberian Rescue sled demo team performed sled demonstrations and had huskies for you to meet and also adopt.

Local hockey experts from Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva offered hockey clinics, giving drills, puck shots, and skating tips.

Ice safety and rescue demonstrations were provided by the Fox River and Countryside Fire/Rescue District.

The festival also featured children's games and storytelling; nature walks; snowmobile safety sessions and demonstrations by the Kane County Forest Preserve District.

Free s'mores and hot chocolate were offered.

The Winter Wonders event at the Campton Township Community Center was hosted by the community relations committee of the Village of Campton Hills.

"The weather is very nice and it's shocking because it feels like spring in February," said Kennedy Tassone, 10, of St. Charles.

"I'm enjoying winter wonders on a 60-degree day in February," said Judy Butler, who volunteered to monitor outdoor game activities.
