Local historian tells story of Galena at Dundee Library Feb. 23

Local author and historian Phil Aleo returns to the Dundee Library in East Dundee to share his latest work, "Galena, Illinois - A Timeless Treasure."

The master storyteller will present newspaper articles and restored vintage photographs, using his trademark "Then and Now" format, to tell the story of Galena, Illinois. The program will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the library, 555 Barrington Ave. (Route 68) in East Dundee.

Bringing a fresh perspective on Galena's history through the written page, numerous newspaper articles from the 1800s, and hundreds of restored vintage photographs, this premium edition book presents the reader with a comprehensive view of what life was like in Galena in the early 1800s.

Copies of the author's books will be available for purchase at the event.

The district serves residents of Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, Gilberts, and parts of Algonquin, Elgin, and Barrington Hills.
