McFun in Wheeling for Eugene Field Elementary School

Eugene Field Elementary School in Wheeling held their first annual McTeacher's Night at the Wheeling McDonald's on Lake Cook Road on Wednesday, February 15. A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.

On Wednesday the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their famiies to raise money for Eugene Field Elementary School. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Twenty teachers worked from the elementary school, including Principal Luis Bonilla. The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume--all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.

Stephanie Sargent, 2nd grade teacher, had a blast dancing around the restaurant in a pie costume. She made up songs to sing to encourage the students to make a donation and get a delicious apple pie. The students enjoyed it when Ms. Sargent did the "dab" as a pie!

A special thank you goes to PTO President, Kathy Fielding, who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. Field teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening. The Field PTO plans to use the money raised for buses for student field trips, assemblies, and 5th grade end of year activities.

The PTO raised $500 at the event thanks to all the singing the teachers did for tips. The students donated money to have the teachers sing the theme song over and over!
