Medical Cannabis Dispensary, Nature's Care Company Celebrates 1-Year Anniversary

Nature's Care Company, a Medical Cannabis Dispensary in Rolling Meadows, officially celebrates its first year in business on February 16, 2017.

Since opening, the location has had more than 400 patients walk through its doors, many of which came to the facility at 975 Rohlwing Road looking at cannabis as the last resort to treat their medical conditions, according to Mitch Meyers, co-owner and partner of Nature's Care Company. Different forms of medical cannabis provided at the facility are leaf, oils, topical and edibles.

"We feel honored to serve our patients. They continue to come back realizing that this amazing plant (cannabis) can help people in so many ways, and without the harsh side effects they have experienced with Pharmaceuticals," Meyers said.

Today, there are 41 conditions approved for medical cannabis use, which include cancer, HIV/AIDS, Crohn's Disease, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Glaucoma, Parkinson's disease, Epileptic seizures, Hepatitis C and others at: http://dph.illinois.gov/topics-services/prevention-wellness/medical-cannabis/debilitating-conditions.

There is a strong emphasis to provide education about medical cannabis at Nature's Care Company. Monthly patient outreach events are held around the northwest suburbs to help people learn more about approved conditions, answer questions and provide assistance with Medical Cannabis Card applications.

"Now, we need to let members of the local communities know we are here and who we can help," Meyers said "We know that when people walk into our beautiful facility, they feel a sense of calm and relief which was exactly our intent. Our mission is to share the healing power of cannabis."

Illinois lawmakers approved the Medical Cannabis Pilot Program in 2013, and dispensaries began opening up around the state in 2015. Since that time, 15,000 Illinois residents have been approved for the Medical Cannabis card.

Mayme Ranallo is the operations manager at Nature's Care Company, and says it has been quite an experience to witness the change in perception regarding medical cannabis.

"Seeing how the industry has progressed in just one year has been amazing. The stigma of seeing cannabis as a drug is now turning into seeing cannabis as a form of medicine," Ranallo said. "We are thrilled to be assisting our patients and educating the community."
