Kentucky hires Hood, LeBlanc as Wildcats assistant coaches

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Mark Stoops has hired Dean Hood to coach Kentucky's special teams/outside linebackers and Derrick LeBlanc to coach the defensive line.

Hood was 55-38 as Eastern Kentucky's head coach from 2008-15, leading the Colonels to two Ohio Valley Conference championships and three FCS playoff appearances. The 29-year coaching veteran spent last season as Charlotte's assistant head coach overseeing the 49ers' special teams and tight ends.

LeBlanc was North Texas' defensive line coach last season and helped the Mean Green reach the Heart of Dallas Bowl. He was defensive coordinator and D-line coach the previous year at Pearl River Community College in Mississippi and has also been an assistant at several schools including Southern Miss, Wyoming and LSU.
