Geneseo man pleads not guilty to couple's kidnapping

MORRISON, Ill. (AP) - A Geneseo man has pleaded not guilty to charges accusing him of breaking into a couple's home and kidnapping them.

Sauk Valley Media reports (http://bit.ly/2lR5kFn ) 40-year-old Chad Schipper entered the plea Monday to four felony counts.

The father of six young children is being held on $1 million bond. He's next due in court Feb. 27.

Whiteside County sheriff's police say Schipper was arrested last week after a high-speed chase with authorities ended with him crashing his car near Port Byron. Constance and Larry VanOosten were found in a Geneseo home and taken to a hospital, where they were treated and released.

The sheriff's office hasn't released further details on the incident, including a motive. The FBI has said the kidnapping could be "financially motivated."
