Palatine to buy two new police vehicles

The village of Palatine purchased two new police cars for $70,040 this week, replacing two aging vehicles in the police department's fleet.

Both of the new purchases are Ford Explorers costing about $55,100. The rest of the expense will pay to outfit the vehicles with radios, sirens, lighting, cages and other law enforcement standards.

One of the Explorers will be used as a patrol car and the other will be a supervisor vehicle.

The Palatine village board approved the plan unanimously at their meeting Monday night.
