CLC police sergeant graduates from Northwestern University's Center for Public Safety

Sgt. Daniel Briscoe of the College of Lake County Police Department recently graduated from the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University's Center for Public Safety. He has worked for the CLC Police Department since 2014 and successfully completed the 10-week program in December 2016.

The School of Police Staff and Command provides upper-level college instruction in a total of 27 core blocks and additional optional blocks during each session. The major topics of study include: leadership, human resources, employee relations, organizational behavior, applied statistics, planning and policy development, budgeting and resource allocation.

"We anticipate a variety of practical benefits from Sgt. Briscoe's completion of the program," said Chief Tom Guenther, CLC Police Department. "Many graduates of the program later assume leadership positions with their respective agencies." Briscoe is the third current CLC Police staff member to complete the program.

The Center for Public Safety was established at Northwestern University in 1936, with the goal of expanding university-based education and training for the law enforcement community. The School of Police Staff and Command program, which was implemented by the Center for Public Safety in 1983, has graduated more than 16,000 students.
