The Mundelein Stand-Up Task Force Hosts Photo Contest For Teens What Motivates You To Be Drug-Free?

Mundelein, IL -The Mundelein STAND-UP Task Force, a local coalition to prevent and reduce underage drinking and other drug use among youth in Mundelein, is seeking entries for its "What Motivates You To Be Drug-Free" photo contest. The contest, open to all 8th -12th graders in Mundelein, is being organized by the STAND-UP Students, a group of high school teens who work with the Mundelein STAND-UP Task Force to help promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle among their peers.

The contest is a way to highlight the many positive reasons why teens in Mundelein choose NOT to use alcohol and/or other drugs. Data from the 2016 Illinois Youth Survey reports that the majority of teens in Mundelein choose to be alcohol and marijuana-free, with 73% of high school students reporting NOT drinking alcohol during the past 30 days and 87% of high school students reporting not using marijuana.*

To enter the contest students must submit a photo with a short caption that explains what motivates them to be drug-free. The top 15 finalists will be part of a photo exhibition that will be displayed throughout the Mundelein community beginning in the spring of 2017. In addition, the top five finalists (one overall winner from each grade level 8th - 12th grade) will receive a $30.00 Target gift card and the remaining 10 finalists will receive a $15.00 Target gift card.
