Vanderbilt planning to begin spring practice Feb 27

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Vanderbilt is opening spring practice Feb. 27 and will hold a March 25 scrimmage that is open to the public.

The Commodores announced their spring practice dates Tuesday.

The March 25 scrimmage will take place at 10 a.m. Central time at Vanderbilt Stadium. Admission is free. Vanderbilt players will have an autograph session after the scrimmage.

Vanderbilt is expected to return 42 players who lettered on the 2016 team that went 6-7 and reached the Independence Bowl. Commodores coach Derek Mason believes it will be the most competitive spring of his tenure and says that "every job will be open to competition."
