Claver, Wheeling advance at Warren regional
Senior Melissa Claver scored 14 points followed by freshman Chloe Drozdz (9) and sophomore Nosa Igiehion (8) to help lead Wheeling to a 38-18 triumph over Round Lake on Monday in a play-in game of the Class 4A Warren regional.
The No. 12-seeded Wildcats (13-16) will face No. 5 Lake Forest on Wednesday in the 7:30 p.m. semifinal.
Drozdz connected for three 3-pointers while Claver and Kourtney Schuetz each added one.
at Hoffman Estates: Senior guard Monraia Wilson scored a game-high 23 points for No. 20-seeded Hoffman Estates (4-23), which won its own Class 4A regional play-in game 36-27 over No. 16 Glenbard East. The Hawks face top-seeded Geneva at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
at Trinity: Annissa Lemon (13 points), Jasmine Igartua (12) and Artasia Gusman (11) led No. 14 Leyden past No. 20 Lincoln Park 52-42 in the Class 4A regional play-in game.
The Eagles will face No. 4 Loyola at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
