Glen Ellyn man charged in COD armed robbery

Bail was set Friday for one of two former College of DuPage students accused of stealing a student's purse and backpack in the college's parking lot.

Judge Richard Russo on Friday morning set bail at $250,000 for Javon Burruss, 19, 390 Spruce Lane, Glen Ellyn. A $300,000 arrest warrant has been issued for Deandre Ford, 19, also of 390 Spruce Lane, Glen Ellyn, alleged to be Burruss' accomplice.

Both men have been charged with one count of armed robbery, a felony.

The DuPage County state's attorney's office said that about 10:30 p.m. Sept. 12, 2016, the two men approached the victim, who was alone in the parking lot. Burruss was armed with a gun, later determined to be a BB gun, prosecutors said.

The two men stole the student's purse and backpack and fled the scene, prosecutors said.

Burruss was apprehended by the College of DuPage and Wheaton police Thursday afternoon.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of Ford is asked to call College of DuPage police at (630) 942-2000.
