American English celebrates 'Sgt. Pepper's' 50th, George Harrison at ECC Arts Center Feb. 25

American English, acclaimed Beatles tribute band, will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the iconic "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album and honor George Harrison's birthday this February. The performance will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, in the ECC Arts Center, Building H, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

During this celebratory night of Beatles music, American English will perform the entirety of the "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album, a special set dedicated to George Harrison on what would have been the beloved Beatle's 74th birthday, as well as a set of Beatles rarities. Released in 1967, the Beatles' acclaimed "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" features classic songs including "With a Little Help from My Friends," "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," "A Day in the Life," and "When I'm Sixty Four."

American English has won numerous awards including the Illinois Entertainer of the Year award and has been voted "Best Tribute Band" by fans in the Chicago area. Sam Leach, the Beatles original promoter, called American English "the best Beatle show on the planet. They are The Beatles incarnate!" The band has shared the stage with musical headliners such as The Grassroots, The Neville Brothers, Three Dog Night, The Ides of March, Eric Burdon, The Buckinghams, The Doobie Bros., Badfinger, Gary Sinise's Lieutenant Dan Band, and many others.

Tickets for American English's performance are $35-$39. A three-course, preshow dinner prepared by ECC's award-winning Culinary Arts and Hospitality program can be purchased for an additional $29. The menu includes cream of potato leek soup, herb-crusted chicken, garlic whipped potatoes, fresh vegetables, and lemon drizzle cake. Wine and beer are sold separately by the glass. Dinners must be ordered on or before Monday, Feb. 20.
