Fitness Fun Fair gets kids moving

At the Fox Valley Park District's annual Fitness Fun Fair for Kids, children will have opportunities to take part in healthy activities designed to get them moving and exercising.

The fitness fair is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Vaughan Athletic Center, 2121 W. Indian Trail Road, Aurora. Admission is free. Children will be able to try an obstacle course, KidFit demo, basketball toss, age-divided bounce houses and many other activities.

"We encourage kids to be active by introducing them to forms of exercise they find fun and invigorating," event supervisor Stevie Michell said. "By making exercise enjoyable, kids are much more likely to develop healthy habits they will carry into adulthood."

Entertainment will take place throughout the event, including Kids Karate Club demonstrations, KidFit Instruction by Vaughan's personal trainers and a new baby crawl contest. Other scheduled features include WBIG Fox Sports Radio with giveaways and music by a DJ.

In addition, vendors and local businesses - ranging from sports camps to health and fitness professionals - will be on hand to promote active pursuits and healthy lifestyles. Vendors include the Kids Golf Foundation, Boys Baseball of Aurora, Plexus Worldwide and Do or Dye Design Salon.
