Schaumburg Seeks Artist Entries for the Prairie Plein Air Competition and Show, Prairie Arts Festival and Septemberfest
The Village of Schaumburg is currently seeking artist entries for the 7th Annual Prairie Plein Air Competition and Show, 30th Annual Prairie Arts Festival, and the 47th annual Septemberfest Arts & Crafts Show.
The Village of Schaumburg and Prairie Center Arts Foundation in conjunction with Blick Art Materials invites plein air artists to participate in the 7th Annual Plein Air Competition and Show by creating an original plein air painting or drawing of any location within the Village of Schaumburg. Plein air is a French expression that refers to art that is created outdoors with the artist's subject in full view.
Submitted works will be displayed in the Herb Aigner Gallery inside the Prairie Center for the Arts May 17-June 30, and will coincide with the 30th annual Prairie Arts Festival. The village is also seeking artist entries to be displayed at the 30th Annual Prairie Arts Festival that will be held May 27 and 28 in Schaumburg.
Artist applications are due online by Sunday, March 5 or postmarked by Friday, March 3. A variety of art is featured at the event including digital, drawing, fiber, furniture, glass, graphics, jewelry, leather, mixed media 2D, mixed media 3D, painting (including watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel), paper, photography, pottery, printmaking, sculpture, and woodworking all crafted by the artist. The Village of Schaumburg and the Septemberfest Committee cordially invite crafters to participate in the Septemberfest Arts & Crafts Show that will be part of the 47th annual Septemberfest held September 2-4.
Craft applications are due online or postmarked by May 1. Eligible crafts and fine arts are inclusive of, but not limited to the following: ceramics, drawings, fabric, floral, glass, graphics, jewelry, leather, painting, photography, sculpture, textiles, or woodworking all crafted by the artist.
