Vernon Hills police get pay hike for patrolling parks

Vernon Hills will receive a pay bump for providing police services on park district property.

A 2003 agreement between the agencies set the Vernon Hills Park District's annual contribution for the service at $18,000, and that amount has not changed since. The revised agreement calls for park district payments of $30,000 this year, $35,000 in 2018 and $40,000 thereafter and includes an automatic renewal.

The village board informally agreed and will take an official vote Feb. 21.
