Cemetery Art Symbolism

On Sunday, Feb. 19 the Bloomingdale Historical Society and the Bloomingdale Public Library will host a historical program about Cemetery Art Symbolism. The program focuses on the rich symbolism displayed in cemeteries of the Victorian Era. Laurel Mellien from Headstones and History will explain how headstone art during that time period was carefully chosen by family members to properly represent the deceased. Many clues about the lives of the dearly departed can be discovered by learning the language of the cemetery art symbolism.

Join us at the Bloomingdale Public Library on Sunday, February 19 from 2-3:00pm.

Please register in person, or call the Adult Reference Desk at 630-924-2730, or register online at www.mybpl.org.
