Chicago Cubs Charities set date for Wrigley 5K run

Registration is now open for runners to take part in the 12th Annual Race to Wrigley Charity Run on April 29, Cubs officials announced Tuesday.

Registration will close at 11:59 p.m. April 25, and runners can sign up at racetowrigley.com.

Here are the details provided by Cubs officials:

Start time, place: The Wrigley 5K begins at 8 a.m. April 29 and travels through the Lakeview neighborhood before entering the concourse through the Budweiser Bleacher Gate on Sheffield Avenue and crossing the finish line steps away from the Wrigley Field Marquee.

Race swag: Runners will receive a Race to Wrigley finisher's medal adorned with the 2016 Cubs World Champions logo and a race shirt. Participants also will receive a drawstring bag and one beverage.

Proceeds: All funds will support Cubs Charities. The top fundraising team and top overall fundraiser will receive tickets and special recognition during a pregame ceremony at a Cubs home game in 2017. The first 100 fundraisers to raise a minimum of $500 will receive a baseball autographed by a current Cubs player.

Cost: The registration fee for the 5K fun run is $40, Youth 5K fun run is $25 and the chip-timed 5K is $45.
