Schoessling leads Rolling Meadows' victory

Rolling Meadows' boys basketball team won for the fifth time in seven games and squared its overall record at 10-10 with a 64-58 victory over Glenbrook South in nonconference play Tuesday.

Senior guard Jack Schoessling had a big game, finishing with a season-high 28 points. He went 10-for-13 at the foul line and came up with 8 points in the fourth quarter as Rolling Meadows protected its lead.

Senior forwards Jared Murphy (20 points) and Charlie Cox (10) also scored in double figures for the Mustangs.

Glenbrook South had a hot start, canning four 3s and earning a 20-11 lead after the first quarter.

Rolling Meadows regained the lead in the third quarter, when Schoessling and Murphy combined to score 22 points.

Wheeling 55, Johnsburg 20: Deshon Jacobs (13 points), Jalen Dennis (10) and Michael Best (8) led the scoring effort as the host Wildcats rolled in a nonconference matchup.

T.J. Best had 7 points for the Wildcats (9-10), who managed to hold the Skyhawks to a single free throw in the second quarter.

Barrington 58, Marian Central 44: The host Broncos picked up a nonconference win at home to improve to 13-7. Jack Moscinski had 20 points to lead Marian Central.

Willowbrook 58, Hoffman Estates 44: The visiting Hawks slipped to 6-12 overall with a nonconference loss in Villa Park. The Warriors improved to 21-1.

Maine West 71, Buffalo Grove 61: The host Warriors won the nonconference matchup as the Bison slipped to 11-9.

Aurora Christian 63, Christian Liberty 40: The host Chargers couldn't match Aurora Christian's firepower in a Northeastern Athletic Conference matchup at Grace Gymnasium in Arlington Heights.

Brendan Munoz led Christian Liberty with 16 points.

Aurora Christian (13-8, 6-2) got a game-high 21 points from junior Jake Wolfe - the son of former Arlington High standout Todd Wolfe.
