Schaumburg Township names new administrator

Schaumburg Township's elected officials have named DeKalb Township Supervisor Eric Johnson as their new administrator, to begin work Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Johnson's tenure in Schaumburg Township will overlap that of retiring Administrator Larry Weniger for just over a month.

Johnson, whose elected position as supervisor in DeKalb Township has included the responsibilities of administrator for the past six years, will earn a starting salary of $96,002 in Schaumburg Township.

Weniger's final year salary has been $112,753.

With the next township elections only two months away, Johnson has asked DeKalb Township trustees to decide at their Feb. 8 meeting whether they'd prefer him to resign immediately or cut his pay by 75 percent to simply stay on the board until then.
