L.Z.H.S. Theatre to perform 'The Little Mermaid' Feb. 3-5

Lake Zurich High School Theatre presents its annual children's show, "The Little Mermaid." This musical theater production for both young and old alike is written by Marc Robin and based on Hans Christian Andersen's classic fairy tale.

The story of a lovely little mermaid willing to sacrifice her life in the sea in the name of true love has been interpreted and performed across many genres, be it play, musical and, of course, the popular Disney movie. This musical version was originally produced in the mid-1990s at the Drury Lane Theatre in Evergreen Park, directed by Robin himself. Numerous productions have since been performed nationwide, including stints at the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, as well as Chicago Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier.

Performed by Lake Zurich High School students and directed by Marcel Graham, "The Little Mermaid" is engaging, family-friendly entertainment, offering something for everyone, including clever songs, dancing, colorful costumes, magic, whimsy, humor and surprises.

Performances will be 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3; 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at the Lake Zurich High School Performing Arts Center, 300 Church St., Lake Zurich.

Tickets are $8 for students and seniors and $10 for adults. For tickets, visit www.lz95.org/pac and click on the link on the right side of page. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
