District 118 students help feed hungry children

Submitted by Wendy Mills

District 118 group volunteer activity was successful once again. For five straight years Wauconda Middle School and Matthews Middle School student council groups joined forces with the Wauconda High School's FBLA Organization to volunteer at the Feed My Starving Children Center in Libertyville.

A total of 125 students and 13 chaperones got together this year to volunteer on Wednesday, Jan. 25.

The students were anxious to get started when they heard the record so far this week was 180 boxes. The District 118 students beat the record, helping complete 182 boxes, which will feed 39,312 meals to children across the globe.
