Kutsor, Bens help Lake Zurich top DeKalb
Ryan Kutsor had 17 points and 7 rebounds, Michael Bens added 13 points (two 3-pointers), and Lake Zurich's boys basketball team rallied to beat DeKalb 50-43 at Batavia on Saturday.
Lake Zurich improved to 15-7, while DeKalb fell to 14-7.
Peter DiCerbo added 6 points and 8 rebounds for the Bears, who rebounded from a tough loss at home to Zion-Benton on Friday night. They trailed 13-4 early, battled back to get within 13-8 after one quarter and were down 22-21 at halftime.
Lake Zurich led 32-28 after three. Brett Hensley held DeKalb leading scorer Michael Mitchell to 8 points.
"This was a big win for us beating a good DeKalb team in a great environment," Lake Zurich coach Billy Pitcher said. "We shot 4 of 20 from 3 and 12 of 22 from the free throw line, but we overcame it with good defense and good transition offense. Two good games in a row for us. I'm very happy with the direction of our team."
