Arlington Heights police investigate recent home burglaries
Arlington Heights police are investigating a recent string of residential burglaries in which offenders forced entry to homes and stole jewelry.
In the most recent case, a burglar broke into a house sometime between 10:45 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. Thursday on the 200 block of West Emerson Street, police said. After breaking through the front door, the robber took three watches worth $300 each, jewelry of an unknown value, and a pillowcase, according to a police report.
The first burglary this week was reported to have occurred between 10:45 a.m. and 6:50 p.m. Monday at a house on the 600 block of South Lincoln Lane, police said. Jewelry was taken.
Authorities also reported a burglary between 12:45 and 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, on the 1000 block of South Ridge Avenue, in which the suspect broke through the front door and took jewelry, an iPad, and a pillowcase.
Police also received a report this week of a burglary at an apartment on the 0-100 block of North Dryden Place that occurred sometime between Jan. 9 and Jan. 21. Taken were a Movado watch valued at $620, a Guess watch valued at $60, and an iPad valued at $229. Police said there were no signs of forced entry in that case.
