Pulte gets OK for Cuneo project

After an exhaustive review and several revisions, Vernon Hills officials Tuesday gave the go-ahead for a plan to build 128 single-family houses on a portion of the former Cuneo property. The project was first suggested three years ago as a way for property owner Loyola University Chicago to raise funds for improvements on the Cuneo Mansion & Gardens property west of Milwaukee Avenue. Ultimately, Pulte Homes agreed to several concessions, including: removing the gated entrance; dedicating a 40-foot right of way for public streets; providing a $650,000 impact fee to the Vernon Hills Park District; revising the monotony code; enhancing the architectural style of some models. Building a two-lane road to provide an entrance and exit to Milwaukee Avenue was determined to be too costly.
