Gurnee-area scholarships

Eligible graduating high school seniors living in the area near Gurnee Mills can apply for a scholarship of up to $1,500 to enroll in an accredited college, university, vocational or technical school. Simon Youth Foundation, a national nonprofit that provides educational opportunities for at-risk high school students, is offering the awards in every community across the country that is home to Simon, Mills, or Premium Outlets malls. Applicants can check their eligibility by ZIP code and apply at syf.org/scholarships. The application period ends March 1. The top candidate in the Chicago area is eligible for a regional award of up to $10,000 ($2,500 for up to four years). Students are selected on financial need, academic performance, leadership skills and participation in school and community activities. Recipients will be notified in May.
