'Footloose' at Prairie Center in Schaumburg

Everybody cuts loose in Schaumburg On Stage's musical stage presentation of "Footloose," which continues through Sunday, Jan. 29, at the Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court.

Now in its 19th season, Schaumburg On Stage, a Northwest suburban theater company for young actors, features talented actors, singers and dancers from the Chicago area.

Kaitlyn Chiostri, 16, and Michele Gurrieri, 15, both of Schaumburg play the role of Ariel, the rebellious small town preacher's daughter, while Caleb Hacker, 16, of Hoffman Estates and Payton Kaye, 16, of Schaumburg play the troublemaking, big-city boy, Ren.

Other roles include Seth Anderson, 16, of Arlington Heights, as the conservative Rev. Moore; Brad Wendt, 20, of South Elgin as the lovable sidekick Willard; Claire Moloczyj, 15, of Roselle and Abbey Reynolds, 14, of Schaumburg as Rusty; Paige Knoll, 17, of Elk Grove Village and Margie Vollkommer, 16, of Schaumburg as Ethel; Chase Fahy, 17, of Elk Grove Village and Cameron Hacker, 15, of Hoffman Estates as Chuck; and Kelly Cagney, 16, and D.D. Sutker, 15, both of Barrington as Vi.

The production is led by Mary Alice Benoit and Mary Miller, 15 year veterans of the company. John Hacker is director and vocal director, Taylor Benoit is assistant director. T'Lyn Candella and Danielle Zyrkowski are the choreographers.

The cast of 75 performers ranging from 6 to 21 years of age has been rehearsing since October for this musical featuring songs popularized by the original 1984 movie production and the 2011 remake.
