Palatine Library celebrates the Oscars with contest

Palatine Public Library District celebrates the Oscars with a contest and three unique programs for adults.

"Patrons are always excited for these special library events prior to the Academy Awards show," says Gayle Weyland, Adult Programming coordinator.

Do you think you can guess the Oscar winners? Look for the Oscar Contest display in the lobby of the Main Library, Monday, Feb. 20, through Sunday, Feb. 26.

Guess the winners before the Academy Awards Show on Feb. 26. One lucky winner will receive a prize basket. In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker question determines the winner. Valid adult district cardholders only. One entry form per person. Winner will be notified by Friday, March 3.

Along with the contest, these "star-studded" programs are designed to help patrons enjoy the anticipation of the Academy Awards.

Martina Mathisen portrays "Gossip Queen" Louella Parsons during her time in the Golden Age of Hollywood, in celebration of the Academy Awards from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Join Daily Herald film critic Dann Gire and film historian and novelist Raymond Benson as they discuss their Oscar Picks from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8. See if their predictions for the Oscar winners match yours.

Chef Maddox shares the perfect recipes at Oscar Party Recipes from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23. Valid District cardholders only. Samples provided.

To sign up for these adult programs, call (847) 358-5881, ext. 167, or visit www.palatinelibrary.org.
