Pianist Esther Shin Chuang to perform at Judson Feb. 4

Singer and pianist Esther Shin Chuang will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Judson University's Thulin Performance Hall in the Thompson Center, 1151 N. State St. (Route 31) in Elgin. The performance is free and open to the public.

Chuang is an adjunct professor teaching music and worship at Moody Bible Institute.

She and her husband, Tony Chuang, an evangelist, regularly travel around the globe teaching, preaching and ministering in music to the thousands that they come into contact with.

"Esther has a tremendous gift from God. Anytime she plays the piano and sings, people cry," her husband has said. "People are somehow moved by the Spirit."

Huang is an award-winning pianist and singer, who has shared her testimony and music with audiences at churches, universities and conferences on four continents: North America, Asia, Africa and Europe. She also has performed in numerous prestigious venues like New York's Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall.

She earned her master of music degree in piano performance at the Manhattan School of Music and her bachelor of music degree at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. She also studied as a scholarship student in the Pre-College Division of the Juilliard School in New York City. After completing her master of music, she entered the Moody Theological Seminary in Chicago. Prior to coming to Moody, she organized and led multi-campus worship and prayer events at colleges and music festivals across the U.S., and shared her music at organizations that serve people who are homeless, elderly, ill and at-risk.

In May 2013, Huang completed her seminary studies and earned a master of arts in spiritual formation and discipleship. She is currently pursuing a doctorate of worship studies at Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies.

She has completed two recording projects, including "Esther Shin Chuang Plays Hymns" and the worship album, "Beauty Out of Brokenness." Both are available on iTunes.
