Prospect Heights OKs $30K settlement with ex-building inspector

Prospect Heights agreed to pay a former building inspector $30,000 in exchange for him dismissing claims the city violated a collective bargaining agreement.

The city council voted Jan. 9 to approve the separation agreement with Brent Zimmerman. In May, the International Union of Operating Engineers 150 filed a grievance on behalf of Zimmerman, who also worked as a part-time snowplow driver, claiming the city violated a part of the collective bargaining agreement when officials disciplined him.

Neither city nor union officials provided more information about reasons for Zimmerman's termination and subsequent claim, citing a confidentiality provision in the settlement.
