Schaumburg's Prince of Peace Announces Today's Samaritan

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Schaumburg has announced formation of a new group, Today's Samaritan. In making the announcement, Pastor Peter Hellstedt said "Just like the Samaritan in Jesus' story, we want to be more fully involved in showing mercy to the people God puts in our lives."

Today's Samaritan is a unique program designed to assist members of the caring community in their efforts to reach out to people experiencing difficulty in their personal lives.

Its mission statement reads, "Rooted and grounded in Christ Jesus, we reach out into the fallen world to lift up those whom life has worn down." The concept is based upon the Biblical parable of 'The Good Samaritan'.

Participants will meet on the first and third Mondays of the month with the first to be held January 23 at 7:00 pm, CST. Meetings will provide training and an opportunity to discuss individual outreach efforts.

Details are available at the church web site, princeofpeace.net. Prince of Peace is located at 930 W. Higgins Road, Schaumburg.
