'New Year, New Knight' membership drive begins

On Monday, Jan. 16, the St. Mary of Huntley Knights of Columbus Council 11666 held a "New Year, New Knight" membership drive.

Hosted by Grand Knight Nick Nakis and other members, the evening was to inform men of St. Mary's Parish about the Knights of Columbus.

The night consisted of a video with questions and answers, with current brothers sharing stories on what the Knights mean to them.

The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal service organization with nearly 1.9 million members in over 15,100 local councils. Last year, Knights donated 71.5 million volunteer hours and $176.9 million in charitable and benevolent causes, sponsoring projects to benefit their church, councils, communities, families and youth. From the moment of its founding in 1882, charity has been the first principle of the Knights of Columbus. We are men of faith and men of action.

The Huntley Council was founded in November 1995 through the efforts of George Gow. It works closely with St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntley.
