Elgin looking for man after third lewd exposure

Elgin police are asking for assistance in finding a man who might have exposed himself to three women.

The first two cases took place Jan. 11, and the third early Monday, and there are similarities among the three, police said.

A 35-year-old woman told police she was on the 1100 block of Hiawatha Drive at 3:20 a.m. Monday when she saw a man perform a lewd act near a residence.

She described a black man wearing a black "puffy" coat and a black stocking cap. The man did not approach her and fled before police arrived.

On Jan. 11 a 33-year-old woman exited her vehicle at 12:40 p.m. in a parking lot on the 1400 block of Abbott Drive and saw a man following her as she walked, Elgin police said. The man removed his belt and started chasing the woman, who ran to a nearby residence and called 911.

A 45-year-old woman was in the same parking lot Jan. 11 and saw the man performing a lewd act. He walked toward her and she ran away.

The women Jan. 11 described the man as black, clean-shaven, 18 to 25 years old, of average height with a thin build, wearing blue jeans and a short-sleeved red/black/blue/white flannel-type shirt over a long-sleeve black shirt, and a black knit cap.
