Calvary Pres Church to Host Community Conversation 1/26

There is a lot of talk these days about what is wrong. But, what about all that is right? The Presbytery of Chicago, along with congregations and community partners across Cook, DuPage, and Lake counties, are inviting communities to gather for conversation. The conversation topic: Believe. What if we live love in our communities? The presbytery is looking to engage community leaders and citizens from faith-based, mission driven, public and private sectors in an exploration of what it could look like to live love in our communities.

Our communities face daunting and complex realities of violence, segregation, discrimination, and despair. Every day we contend with great injustice and suffering. But strengths, gifting, and assets also dwell deep within our communities, but we believe that a new way is possible as we build on our collective strengths: a way of peace, unity, and hopeā€¦ a way of justice, mercy, and joy!

Leaders and citizens from all walks of life are invited to listen deeply to one another and speak the truth that you have known. The only prerequisite is to come with an open mind, open heart, and open will--leaving fear, judgment, and cynicism behind--so we may join together to envision a future that is bigger than each one of us. We believe that love in action has the power to transform all of our communities.

Join us on Thursday, February 26 from 6 - 8 pm at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 510 Cedar Lake Road, Round Lake, IL.
