St. Catherine of Siena Church to honor first responders

A special first-time event to honor local first responders and their families will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 845 W. Main St. in West Dundee.

Members of local police and fire departments, rescue individuals, and their families from West Dundee, East Dundee, Carpentersville, Sleepy Hollow, Gilberts and Elgin have been invited to attend a special one-hour program that will celebrate their efforts in the community.

"We ask everyone to answer the call and take time to honor with pride and respect all of our first responders who make a difference in our lives every single day," said Joe Sakowski, leader of the St. Catherine of Siena Men's Music Ministry and organizer of the event.

"When our needs of emergency come, and we all know they do at some time, these men and women, our first responders, come to our assistance," Sakowski said. "They perform their duties to serve our needs."

The program will include music, stories, bagpipes, and a video presentation, among other surprises.

Members of the St. Catherine of Siena Church parish and the entire community are invited to attend and honor our local heroes.
