See 'When the Cat's Away' at Riverfront Playhouse

The Riverfront Playhouse, 13 Water St. in Aurora, continues its production of "When the Cat's Away" by Johnnie Mortimer and Brian Cooke at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, through Feb. 18.

It is a classic British sex farce based on the popular British sitcom "George and Mildred" and is sure to leave you laughing in the aisles.

Mildred has booked a second honeymoon but George isn't interested in going with her. Mildred's sister Ethel has just left her philandering husband, Humphrey, and is moving in with Mildred and George. Mildred decides to take her second honeymoon with Ethel. When the ladies leave for Paris, Humphrey convinces George to enjoy themselves without their wives. They go out on the town and bring back Humphrey's secretary, Jennifer, and her depressed friend, Shirley, but unknown to them their wives have returned.

It is directed by Gene Scheffler and Lynn Knauf.

Aaron Hoge plays the henpecked curmudgeon George and Millie Collins Schwartz is Mildred, his long-suffering wife who longs for some tenderness from her husband. Brian Lefevre plays the smarmy, wealthy playboy Humphrey who only wants to make up with his wife because everything is in her name. Kristen Duerdoth plays the role of Ethel who insults George and Mildred's house, food and surroundings with disdain. Beth Goncher takes on the role of Jennifer, Humphrey's secretary, and object of Humphrey's affection. Katrina Syrris rounds out the cast as Shirley, the depressed friend of Jennifer.

"This show is going to be huge! In my opinion, Its going to be the best show you see all year, and my opinion is really great, let me tell you, its bigger than that little show Hamilton. I mean, what could be better than a show about a cat? You know how I feel about that," says director Gene Scheffler jokingly. "In all seriousness, the cast has worked really hard to put together a really fun show that we know you will enjoy."

"This show brings back the funny and talented cast of last year's wildly successful show 'Boeing, Boeing'," says director Lynn Knauf. "The actors have amazing chemistry and the end result is nonstop fun."

Tickets are $17 or $15 for students and seniors. Reservations are encouraged and can be made online at www.riverfrontplayhouse.com, by calling the box office at (630) 897-9496.
