Fort Wayne Mayor Henry taking steps to address crime

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry says he's taking steps to deal with crime in the state's second-largest city.

He told Fort Wayne's Downtown Rotary Club on Monday the city will add about 30 officers to the Police Department and plans to expand the department's detective bureau and all the community task forces that deal with crime.

WANE-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2jSj9Cn ) Henry also said the city will also increase its presence on social media. Henry says that if the community engages online, the probability of crime will go down.

The mayor's annual address to the Rotary Club often serves as a preview of his state of the city address, typically presented in early February.
