Ongoing review needed for gun owners

There has to be some compromise or meeting of the minds so to speak to safeguard the public while at the same time honoring the Second Amendment.

We have in place a system to monitor our drivers in that every four years, they are tested and reissued their driving privileges. Why not initiate something along those lines to evaluate the mental health of registered gun owners?

The incident in Orlando, Florida, is a prime example of a mentally distressed gun owner being allowed to not only return to society without any care but also to give him back his weapon! The lack of common sense in this case lies completely on the FBI who released him after four days.

At the time his gun was purchased or registered, he may have been mentally competent, but circumstances evidently changed to bring about this tragedy.

Family members also had the responsibility to report mental health issues and confiscate his weapon or ask for assistance. It's one thing to say mentally handicapped people should not have weapons, but at what point do we determine the mental health of gun owners - after it's too late?

I believe the police department also administers tests to determine the mental health of potential officers, this standard should apply to any gun owner.
