Chicago Wolves fall 4-1 to Moose

WINNIPEG — Ondrej Pavelec stopped 43 shots as the Manitoba Moose defeated the Chicago Wolves 4-1 on Sunday at MTS Centre. The loss was just the Wolves' second in 12 games.

Defenseman Petteri Lindbohm scored for the Wolves (23-13-3-2), the first goal of the game. Goaltender Ville Husso (5-3-0) registered 16 saves.

Manitoba (15-17-3-2) rallied with 4 straight goals to take its second win in three games against the Wolves.

The Wolves controlled play throughout most of the first period, and it paid dividends when they opened scoring at 16:30. Bryce Gervais chipped the puck up the left-side boards to Lindbohm at the point. With rookie Mackenzie MacEachern screening, Lindbohm snapped a shot that found its way past Pavelec (8-7-2).

Manitoba scored 3 goals in the second period, including a power-play marker from Dan DeSalvo just 1:35 in. Ryan Olsen (12:32) and Scott Kosmachuk (15:43) scored from the slot past Husso (5-3-0) in the latter half of the period.

Manitoba netted its fourth goal — the only one of the final period — to seal the victory.

The Wolves wrap a three-game road stint Friday against the Central Division-leading Grand Rapids Griffins at Van Andel Arena. Puck drop is slated for 6 p.m., and the game will broadcast on The U-Too in the Chicago area.

Chicago returns to the Allstate Arena for a pair of Amtrak Rivalry contests against the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday and Sunday.
