Rolling Meadows to consider buying land for fire stations

Rolling Meadows aldermen will meet again Tuesday night in closed session to discuss buying land for two new fire stations.

Aldermen first met behind closed doors Jan. 10, but are continuing their discussion on possible land acquisition after an open session committee of the whole meeting.

Fire department officials have proposed replacing Fire Station 15 at 3111 Meadow Drive with a new station to the south, and Fire Station 16 at 2455 S. Plum Grove Road with a new station to the east.

There's a dozen sites around town that have been considered, but aldermen first have to give their OK before city staff can begin making purchase offers to private property owners.
