Seeking an unbiased foundation of democracy

Thomas Jefferson has advanced to us the notion that, "Democracy cannot exist without the freely informed exchange of ideas." On this topic, President Jefferson would weep at the presumptive choice for secretary of education, Betsy DeVos.

To preserve democracy we must encourage an unbiased foundation of knowledge upon which the contemporary world should be based. If private charter schools did not have an agenda to advance, why would they not use their resources to support public education?

How could Betsy DeVos serve the unbiased foundation of knowledge having never attended a public school, nor ever sent her children to public schools? Further, her family has spent millions of dollars to advance a voucher system, which is a way of placing public funds into private hands.

DeVos's dollars funded the strategy that produced Citizens United, the Supreme Court decision in 2010, allowing unlimited private dollars to flow into political campaigns.

The results of such a ruling are turning democracy into corporatocracy. Such a system would probably have prevented President Jefferson from being elected at all, thereby helping to silence this vital voice in U.S. history.
